What is the difference between the 2 versions of the book?
Only the titles are different. The content is identical. Since "PEMQBook" has meaning for PEM physicians, we titled one so that there would be name recognition. For those who are not PEM physicians, we titled it so that it would reflect the contents specific to this book. ISBNs are different also, since the books are technically separate.
How is this compilation of question and answer sets different than the 2009, 2013, 2017 editions?
All questions were re-reviewed and updated. We included a statistics professor as one of our associate editors to review all original material. If you own the original 3 editions, you will notice some differences, but you are likely fine with the original 3 editions.
I am not a Pediatric Emergency Physician. Will this help me?
The material was reviewed by the Designated Institutional Officer at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. As a Pediatric Hematology-Oncology attending, she felt that this would be useful for all pediatric subspecialties, and likely many specialties as well. There is a free sample of 5 question and answer sets available for download. Click on the link on the mainpage to view it.
How many question and answer sets are there?
There are 133 question and answer sets. Answers include explanations detailing the correct answer, and usually an explanation of why the incorrect answers are incorrect. Rarely, there is no explanation, but this is usually when the material was just covered in a preceding answer explanation.
All questions are different, but there is some duplication of content between the chapters, since each chapter was written independently over 3 editions. However, we find that asking questions differently, whilc covering similar content, is useful for the reader.
